The gear
An official Flightradar24 box: my station has been one of its partner receivers since April 2016, under radar callsign F-LSGG3. The box feeds its worldwide network; in parallel, its local output feeds this site. Everything shown here comes from what my antenna received, not from its platform. The rest amounts to little: a clear outdoor antenna, and a machine archiving every received frame. The station also transmits as amateur radio HB9EYA; on the aviation side, it only listens.
The range
What I capture depends on altitude: an aircraft in cruise shows up hundreds of kilometres away, a helicopter in a valley vanishes behind the first ridge. The diagram shows the maximum measured range per 10 degree sector, one layer per altitude band, from the centre of my JN36HO locator.
26,395,422 points measured as of 30 Jul 2026. Discarded beyond the physical ceiling of their band (320, 414, 486, 500 km): 7,850 low, 990 medium, 661 high, 2,051 cruise or without altitude; 26 ranges brought down to the band above, since a low band never reaches farther than a high one.
An en-route station
The airports I see most are not the closest ones: Geneva airport only ranks 2 in my own standings. I sit under the airways, not under the runways.
